Just like it is difficult to identify the exact cause of acne development, acne symptoms too are very confusing and hard to distinguish. Most of these symptoms are similar in appearance but could be caused by entirely different conditions. It is easy to differentiate between the types of acne and severity, mild or serious, that you might be suffering from once you have a basic understanding about the various symptoms.

    Types

All the symptoms that are suggestive of an acne condition can be broadly divided into:

  • Inflammatory symptoms
  • Non-inflammatory symptoms
  • Inflammatory Acne

This is the more severe form of acne in which pimples reach a self-proliferating stage. The initial stage in the development of inflammatory acne is characterized by the appearance of inflamed whiteheads that give rise to typical reddish-brown pimples. These may further get filled with pus and are then called pustules. If the condition isn’t controlled with proper medications, these pimples can further develop into cysts, which are the main reason for creating pit-shaped scars on the face and neck. The most common forms of this condition and their defining symptoms include:

    1. Type: Acne Rosacea

    Symptoms:

    2. Type: Acne Vulgaris (Nodular Acne)

    Symptoms:

Acne vulgaris usually occurs among individuals undergoing puberty and this condition lasts for a few months.

Nodular acne is a more complex and long-lasting form of vulgaris.

    Non-Inflammatory Acne

The foremost acne symptom for this condition includes the presence of a few whiteheads or blackheads. Usually, these comedones are found on the face and the forehead. This is regarded as a comparatively milder form of pimples. In this case, the acne symptoms are best treated with some standard over-the-counter (OTC) or non-prescription medicines. A majority of the individuals, particularly those in the 20+ age-group, have this kind of acne.

    Choose Wisely

Acne is among the most widely self-medicated skin conditions. People who can’t recognize serious acne conditions from temporary or mild are the ones who end up causing tremendous harm to their skin by following the wrong kind of self-treatment.

Every acne symptom doesn’t necessarily mean that it is time to visit a skin specialist. So, it is essential that you are able to identify the various symptoms and acne condition before choosing the correct method of treating it. Visit reduce acne for more information.
